Resistance 2 will arrive in North America on November 4, a date announced by Sony yesterday along with the pricing model for the title – the regular edition will cost 59.99 dollars. Publisher Sony Computer Entertainment is also pushing hard for buyers to get the Collector's Edition that will sell for 79.99 dollars, while including a hardcover art book, special cover art and an in-game weapon skin.

There's also an action figure that depicts the alien-human hybrid race, the Chimera, which you need to fight in the game together with a bonus DVD that is full of behind-the-scenes footage, along with a video that describes the alternate timeline of the game series. Sony is going for goodies overload by also including the first issue of a Resistance comic book created by DC Comics subsidiary Wildstorm.

The sequel starts up shortly after the first game ends. The hero of the first edition, Nathan Hale, who has escaped the Chimera infested London to Iceland, quickly discovers, to his horror, that the United States is now attacked by the evil race. Chicago, San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest are battle fronts that the player will visit.

Resistance 2 is set to have two different campaigns. The single player one is going to be supplemented by a campaign designed specifically for the co-op mode, which offers support for 8 players at a time. The multiplayer component of the game will feature 60 players and a light role playing influence, which allows abilities to be developed as experience is gathered.

Speaking of multiplayer Sony is saying that developer Insomniac is getting ready to put together "a worldwide competitive online multiplayer and co-operative beta beginning in early October." To be sure you get into the beta you need to pre-order at GameStop or to get an annual subscription to the Qore monthly video magazine that Sony recently launched. There's also the possibility of registering on the developer's page.
