A short delay affects Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, the new squad-based zombie shooter from Canadian developer Slant Six Games and Japanese publisher Capcom, has now received a new release frame of winter, instead of the late 2011 it was scheduled for up until now.

Capcom and Slant Six Games announced Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City earlier this year, confirming that it will take quite a few liberties with the Resident Evil canon, while adding a new sort of gameplay, with a squad-based experience replacing the older single-player survival horror one, which made the series so popular.

While the game was scheduled to appear before the end of 2011, Capcom has now confirmed, via Kotaku, that the title, which wasn't showcased at last week's Tokyo Games Show 2011, has been pushed back.

Instead of trying to get it out before the end of the year, the Japanese company has revealed that it's going to deploy Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City this winter, which probably means a release in late January or some time in February.

In case you forgot about the new Resident Evil title, check out its mean features, as highlighted by Capcom, below.

- Team based shooter set in the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. - Triple threat battle as zombies and B.O.W’s add an unpredictable twist to the action. - Control the truth solo or with up to three friends as an Umbrella Security Service squad member in a story driven Campaign mode. - Choose from six U.S.S. characters, each with their own unique skill set and roles. - Return of favorite Resident Evil enemies, iconic landmarks and characters, such as Leon S. Kennedy. - Rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak. Relive the iconic crash scene from Resident Evil 2 as Leon S. Kennedy desperately tries to escape from the clutches of the Umbrella Security Services. - For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, your character risks infection from the hordes of zombies making their way through the city. - Competitive online multiplayer modes provide a unique gaming experience thanks to the triple- threat battle between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops and threat of zombies and B.O.W’s. Capcom is going to keep fans of the franchise happy until Raccoon City is launched, as it's currently deploying high definition remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X on the PlayStation 3 as digital downloads.
