Japanese reviewers gave the game a 10 out of 10 - Capcom's hit the jackpot

The July issue of Famitsu DS+Wii just hit Japanese news stands today, thus the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 made its way into the hearts of Japanese fans, with probably the most impressive score for a game of this genre this year: 4 reviewers granted Capcom's third-person-survival-horror two 10s and two 9s, out of 10. Curious why? Read below.

The reviewers reported that the content is almost the same as the GameCube original, while the direct Wiimote-based controls offer a plus, making the game feel fresh and different in many ways, as IGN notes. One of the reviewers also pointed out that the game offers the feeling of being closer to the action as well as upping the tension.

But all Famitsu's reviewers agreed on two points: that the new controls are simple and easy to get into and that although some may see this game for the first time, it won't be such a challenge for them either.

I have to say I was expecting this. In other articles of mine I stated my beliefs towards the Wii's motion sensitive control scheme and how it simplifies every game ported to Nintendo's so-called next-gen console. The truth is, games are fun with the Wii, even though some features may be different or not at all present. Graphics aren't spectacular all the time, but does it matter that much when you're having fun?

Nothing about that Zapper though. Earlier last month there was word on a Zapper/Blaster for the Wii version of Resident Evil 4. Guess it was all rumors. Or maybe they're still working on it...

Japan will be getting it on the 31st and America on June 19th. When the game's released, we'll have some more on RE4 Wii for you. Until then, check out other highlights today.
