The beauty that will never be more than a mere concept

People are cramming in order to develop new mobile phone concepts for Sony Ericsson phones. An impressively elegant one has appeared over the past days, looking like a really tough competitor for the "iPhone killer" title.

Just what this phone concept has to do with the Sony
Ericsson line of mobile phones is still pretty vague. Of course, it has the company's logo, but, other than that, it holds no specific features that could be found in similar devices coming from this producer. Still, it's only a concept with little or no chances of ever becoming real, which makes it nothing more than a highly impressive idea.

The phone looks to impress through its sexy design above anything else. After all, any specifications provided would have been only fictional and most probably impossible to use in a real device, which makes this concept just perfect the way it came: with no performances revealed.

Huge touchscreen displays are the new mobile phone trend, so the concepts' developer has thrown in one as big as possible. As a matter of fact, this device looks highly similar to the iPhone at a first glance, with its full black body and large screen.

Things stand a little different once it slides to reveal a full QWERTY keypad. This surely takes care of recent research results stating that the iPhone's virtual keyboard is difficult to use. Moreover, the fact that the buttons that this concept proposes are small and at a considerable distance from one another makes sure that it is highly easy to use.

This Sony Ericsson concept scores big time when it comes to elegance and style, due to its smooth, black look combined with some metallic accents. There are little chances of seeing this ever coming true. What is it with the classic full-QWERTY keypad? You'll never see such a thing in a real Sony Ericsson mobile phone.

You say that this bears no resemblance to the Sony Ericsson line of phones, huge touchscreen displays are the new mobile phone trend and that we'll never see such a thing in a real SE phone...

but you're thinking about this the wrong way.

As opposed to this being an unrecognisable phone with smart functionality, this looks EXACTLY like a next-gen Clie with phone capabilities.

The GUI matches the last range of Clies (apart from it's black) and the full keyboard was also a feature of the top of the range PDA line, which unfortunately is now defunct.

If SE wanted to release an iPhone-esque handset, they already have the technology, styling, and user-base in the form of the Clie.

This is less of a brand new exciting concept image, and more of a natural evolution of an old product.
