Apple appears to be launching another “S” iPhone this year, which may be slightly redesigned, unlike previous “S” upgrades (such as iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4S), which looked identical to their respective inception models.

A set of high-resolution photos have been leaked by an anonymous source to BGR, purporting to show several redesigned parts that are destined for the upcoming iPhone 5S.

The redesigned parts include the loud-speaker and ear speaker flex cables, the vibrating motor assembly, a Wi-Fi cable ribbon, and a golden SIM card tray which might just confirm rumors of a multi-color iPhone 5S launching this year.

BGR notes that the SIM card trays leaked by the source “are thinner than the trays from the current-generation iPhone 5.”

In other words, Apple is not only redesigning the phone internally, but externally too.

Rumors abound regarding several new iPhones launching this year, but it seems all hardware leaks are pointing towards yet another traditional S-upgrade, despite analysts’ fears that Apple cannot afford another incremental release of the iPhone this year.

During a meeting with investors, Apple CEO Tim Cook stressed that the company’s major product announcements would occur in fall.

The company’s Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled to debut on June 10, is expected to yield only software announcements, including the next-generation OS X and iOS.

iOS 7 is expected to be a major redesign of Apple’s mobile operating system, featuring a flat interface and several new tweaks in the lockscreen department (such as widgets and handy settings / shortcuts).

Apple’s next iPhone is likely to arrive pre-installed with iOS 7, and while the software unveiling is happening next month, Apple may keep its new hardware under wraps for a couple more months.
