Blur and Alpha Protocol flop

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption is still dominating the UK charts, as UFC Undisputed 2010 failed to claim the top spot on the list last week. EA Sports' FIFA World Cup 2010 and Ubisoft's Just Dance are on the third and fourth places and they are the most successful casual titles this month. Modern Warfare is still selling well, even after seven months since its launch.

Big, new releases this week, Blur and Alpha Protocol, are strangely absent from the top ten list, being relegated to the 14th and 13th places, respectively. Alpha Protocol's weak debut is understandable, as the game has been met with mixed responses because of the very buggy state it is in. Blur, on the other hand, has received favorable reviews, praised for its alert and accessible mechanics, so its semi-failure may be attributed to its release date being too close to that of Disney's Split/Second: Velocity.

Remedy's action thriller Alan Wake has fallen to the 15th spot, after a few weeks in the top ten, showing that interest in the biggest Xbox 360 exclusive of this quarter is waning in the United Kingdom. As audiences got to see, the new Prince of Persia movie, Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, has started to do better, climbing one spot in the charts to number eight.

This week's new releases bring the new expansion to The Sims 3, called Ambitions, and the PC version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. It may be worth remembering that The Sims 3: Ambitions allows players to control their Sims at work and to select new career options for them. New character skills are also available for training. Also, it is good to know that The Forgotten Sands for the PC contains Ubisoft's infamous digital rights management software that requires gamers to be always online.
