Strategy titles are seemingly the dominant ones at the beginning of this year as both THQ's Dawn of War II and Sega's Empire: Total War are already topping the charts, while the PlayStation 3 edition of the previously launched Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, subtitled Ultimate Edition, has been hogging all the attention from owners of Sony's big black box.

We've already heard some of the developers of the game brag that it will look better than the Xbox 360 version, and now the senior development director of the title, David Seeholzer, has posted on the PlayStation Blog a few details about the upcoming game, which is scheduled to hit the store shelves on March 23 in North America.

The game will see a demo released for it in the following weeks, which promises to let players in on the top-notch strategy experience that will be given to all PlayStation 3 owners. Also, the game has received its own PlayStation Store destination, which will be filled with themes, concept art and trailers, all of which exclusive for PS3 users. Besides the five new skirmish maps that will be included on the game's Blu-Ray disk, the team at EA Los Angeles is also hard at work on a DLC map pack that will be available after the game's release.

“We also have plans to release live DLC post ship through the PS Store as well,” said Seeholzer. “We strongly believe in product support especially after ship, and we have a team here dedicated to releasing new maps, missions, units, and other content for the PlayStation 3. The team is hard at work on the first of what we hope will be many DLC packages for RA3: Ultimate Edition. This map pack, which should be available very close to our launch later this month, will feature 3 new skirmish maps for both offline and online play. The team here is dedicated to bringing you quality content on a regular cadence, so make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for future updates.”

With such big promises and all of the extra content packed on the game's disk, including developer strategy guides and features with the actors that starred in the game, Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition is looking like a must-buy title for a lot of PlayStation 3 owners.
