One of the most appreciated racing titles of the year, Race Driver: GRID, will soon go handheld - Codemasters has just announced that the Nintendo DS version of the game is being shipped to game shops across North America, so you can schedule a trip to the nearest store and grab the title. The game also comes with a complete circuit creation system and stylus support.

As it usually happens in such circumstances, Codemasters said that the game is not a simple port, but one specifically designed for Nintendo's handheld, offering the most complete pick-up and play experience ever. We can only hope that they're right and GRID for DS will not ruin the reputation of its bigger brother.

As I said earlier, the game comes with an exclusive circuit creator, enabling gamers to create their dream racetracks and master them. This editor brings 60 individual pieces, near-limitless design options and the ability to personalize the billboards! Just imagine how cool it would be to drive on the tracks and see your name on banners and such.

Multiplayer online options are also available in Race Driver: Grid for the DS, allowing up to four players to compete for the number 1 position, but you should be ready for some competition, because online leaderboards will track your performance and compare it to that of thousands of other players.

All in all, we can say that Race Driver: GRID brings a whole new world to life on the Nintendo DS, by offering a beautifully realized and easy to play racing game. It is also a very complex title, including circuits like Spa and the Nurburgring, the streets of San Francisco to Washington DC and many, many more. But you probably already know that and you're ready to go to the nearest game store to purchase this game.
