Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion was rumored for quite some time now to be on its way to bring a BlackBerry tablet to the market, and a few more unconfirmed details on the device have just emerged into the wild. Chances are that it would all prove to be nothing else than a rumor in the end, but we wouldn't be surprised if RIM would actually bring the device to the market, that's for sure.

Mobile phone makers around the world, as well as computer makers, have shown increased interest in the launch of tablet computers. Some of them already announced officially the release of such devices, or plans to release them in the near future, and it seems that RIM might intend to make a move into the area too, especially since slates are becoming increasingly popular lately.

The upcoming BlackBerry tablet from RIM is expected to sport a 7-inch touchscreen display, at leas this is what Ashok Kumar, an analyst and managing director at Rodman & Renshaw, says, according to a recent article on Engadget. This would not be the first slate to boast a 7-inch display, nor the last one, most probably, but it seems that it might actually be the first one to include front- and back-facing cameras for video chat.

Another rumored hardware component of the upcoming device would be a 1GHz processor, though little is known on the actual provider of the chip. For what it's worth, in case the rumors pan out, we should expect for RIM to push out to shelves a pretty appealing BlackBerry Tablet.

However, the existence of this device still has to be confirmed, along with a wide range of other features and capabilities. As for the release date, rumor has it that next year would be the lucky time frame, but specific info lacks on this area too. Since this is not the first time RIM is reported to be working on the device, it might prove real after all, through we'll have to wait a little longer before we'll learn how it would turn out in the end.
