Expands the availability of BlackBerry solution in the country

Research In Motion and SK Telecom recently announced the launch of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone in South Korea. With a wide array of high-end features and its compact, elegant design, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 will most likely appeal to both business and regular users. The smartphone provides top functionality, performance and features, all integrated into a dark, chrome frame that gives the device a very elegant look.

“BlackBerry smartphones have been well-received in our market and are popular among business users and consumers,” Mr. Soon Hyeong Kim, vice president of Solution Business Office at SK Telecom, said. “We have seen increasing demand by customers looking for smartphones that can give them both productivity gains and entertainment while on the go. Companies are exploring smartphone solutions to develop their mobile office strategies and the BlackBerry Bold 9700, with its powerful performance, rich multimedia capabilities and sleek design, is a perfect fit for the market.”

Some of the key features of the BlackBerry 9700 include a 2.44” display, full-QWERTY keyboard, a new, innovative, touch-sensitive trackpad, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), and a 3.2-MP camera with flash and autofocus. The BlackBerry OS 5.0 offers faster JavaScript, CSS processing, as well as email-management capabilities. The smartphone also has a built-in GPS and photo geotagging, and 3.5 mm stereo headset jack. The quad-band device comes with an 8GB memory card and can support up to 32GB. The 1,500 mAh battery offers six hours of talk time and 17 days in standby 3G mode.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone is expected to be put on sale in May from SK Telecom, but it is already available for pre-order. Research In Motion also announced the availability of the BlackBerry App World on the South Korean market. BlackBerry users will now have the possibility to choose from a large variety of free mobile applications, available for their specific device. BlackBerry App World is now available for download at www.blackberry.com/appworld and can be easily accessed by Wi-Fi, or mobile-phone networks available in South Korea.

Some of the key features of BlackBerry App World include: - Front Page Carousel – BlackBerry App World showcases several applications on its front page carousel, making it easy for users to browse through a select number of featured applications. Featured applications vary from time to time, helping users discover new applications. - Recommend – BlackBerry App World users can recommend applications to other people through email, PIN, SMS message or BlackBerry Messenger. - Application Storage – BlackBerry App World includes a folder called My World, which keeps track of applications the user has downloaded. It is a personal storage space that allows users to uninstall and re-install applications. - Application Archiving – users can archive applications to a microSD card or built-in storage memory on their BlackBerry smartphone. - Update Notifications – users can be notified of updates to applications they’ve downloaded on BlackBerry App World.
