Developer Trion Worlds has announced that it plans to implement two new programs that are specifically designed to attract new gamers to RIFT and the world of Telara and its battles by allowing those interested to play for free for a while and by actively rewarding players who recruit others for the MMO.

The most important initiative is the RIFT 7-day-long Free Trial, which allows anyone to download the client for the game and then begin questing and fighting in the MMO, experiencing all the content they can in one week and engaging in Player versus Player battles.

At any time during the week, players who are trying out the game can pay and be upgraded to the full version of RIFT, with the character they have leveled up during free play being transferred for them.

The Ascent a Friend program is designed for those who are already playing RIFT and will allow them to give out seven-day free-play passes to as many friends as they like.

If they manage to get them to join the MMO, they are set to receive rewards which go from Courage, the canine companion in the screenshot, for one ascended player, to a new mount when three friends are recruited.

Scott Hartsman, who is an executive producer working on RIFT, has stated when the new program was announced that, “Since launching just over two months ago, RIFT has dramatically disrupted the online gaming landscape, giving players the most massive, dynamic, and engaging MMO experience currently available.”

He added, “With the Free Trial and Ascend-a-Friend programs, we’re opening the floodgates, inviting all into this amazing world to experience what gamers around the globe already know – that Telara is the new destination for serious MMO players.”

RIFT has recently received the 1.2 update, which includes Facebook integration, three new dynamic zone events and a new big group raid.
