Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that Queen, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, is set to arrive in Rock Band 2 via downloadable content, with ten of their most important songs being offered this week for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii version of the music simulation videogames.

Recently, there was some speculation that after the initial success of The Beatles Rock Band, which was released in September, Harmonix and MTV Games might be thinking about creating another game devoted to Queen, based on a statement made by Brian May, the guitarist of the band.

The ten tracks set to be offered this week are: “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “I Want It All,” “I Want to Break Free,” “Killer Queen,” “One Vision,” “Somebody to Love,” “Tie Your Mother Down” and “Under Pressure.”

The songs should be available on the Xbox 360 on October 20 and on the PlayStation 2 on October 22. Players interested in the band can pick them up as a package or individually, except on the Nintendo Wii, where tracks can only be bought one by one. All of the songs are master recordings with the developers making sure that they sound as good as they can in the videogame.

For those players more into mobile gaming and that have picked up Rock Band Unplugged for the PlayStation Portable, Harmonix and MTV Games are offering two new tracks, “The Rock Show” from Blink 182 and “All I Want” from The Offspring, adding to the almost 50 other songs offered for download on the handheld.

In the near future, the Rock Band family is set to get another game based around LEGO pieces, which, among others, will include David Bowie as a playable character.
