If you can't wait for the official release, you can see brand new film footage here

It was bound to happen. After Warner Bros. and Chris Nolan decided to release a 6-minute prologue of “The Dark Knight Rises” and trailer tied to “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” it was only a matter of time before they leaked online.

So far, we have made a habit of trying not to post on-set or leaked footage and photos – but this is the third and final Batman we're speaking of, the most anticipated movie of 2012, and fans must be on the edge of their seat as we speak.

For those outside the US and the UK, where the prologue + trailer combo is running in IMAX theaters, we're making an exception, but only if they too feel they can't wait until the official release.

Below are two videos: the first one is the official, yet unreleased trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises.” Immediately below is the 6-minute prologue.

Both were shot on a camera phone in a cinema theater and, as such, are very low quality. Nevertheless, for the fan in you, it should be just enough to whet your appetite for the big theatrical release.

We're not going to say anything about what happens in the two clips – if you feel you can't wait any longer, the choice to see them is entirely yours.

[*Update: December 19, 2011]: Warner Bros. took down the videos so you can no longer see them. Just know that they were epic - and keep an eye on this space for more.
