New game from THQ

THQ Wireless, the well-known American developer and publisher of video games, announced the future availability of Prehistoric Tribes, a new mobile game that combines sim-like features with strategy gaming in the vein of the old but much appreciated Age of Empires. The new title comes after the success of Prehistoric Fun Park, released in 2007, a game that resembles the amusement park-themed ones from PC.

Prehistoric Tribes is set to offer a funny and at the same time challenging gaming experience by allowing you to control an entire prehistoric village. At the start of the game you only have a small group of natives that you need to take care of and lead to prosperity. You can assign them different tasks, like gather food or building materials, fish, hunt, cook and engage into combats. In other words, you have full control over the tribesmen and, if you really really want to, you can even name them - I believe Og, Hog, Mog or Trog would make vigorous male names while Oga, Hoga, Moga or Troga would be pretty appellatives for the prehistoric ladies.

During the game's wide variety of missions you will be able to build 13 different types of buildings, for various purposes: store, kitchen, chief hut, sandpit and even a "gym". After (and while) expanding your village you have to protect it from enemy tribes, helped by the basic weapons your men can carry. Also, you can counterattack and destroy the other tribes to have access to a wider territory for gathering food and resources.

Prehistoric Tribes is compatible with a wide range of J2ME mobile phones and will be available as a paid download from the THQ website starting April 2008, when everyone will be able to pick up the clubs, I mean phones, and begin the prehistoric adventure.
