It appears that MSI is not the only company to release a Radeon-branded video controller, even though some might expect all focus to be on promoting the new, dual-chip graphics adapter from NVIDIA.

With NVIDIA having released the GeForce GTX 590, its partners have released the floodgates, so to speak, and provided their own versions.

Still, even though the dual-GF110 controller got its due attention, it doesn't seem to have completely shut out the flow of AMD models.

Granted, the Radeon HD 6990 actually came out weeks before NVIDIA's solution, but this doesn't mean other Radeon models can't debut.

In fact, even as it provided a GTX 590, Micro-Star international, for one, also brought forth an HD 6970 Lightning.

It seems that PowerColor also chose this time to formally launch a Radeon of its own, one intended for the mid-to-high end segment.

Known as PCS+ HD6870, it is factory overclocked, meaning that, instead of 900 MHz, the Barts GPU works at 975 MHz.

The same goes for the memory (1 GB of GDDR5 VRAM), which operates at a speed of 4,600 MHz instead of the stock 4,200 MHz (the interface is of 256 bits).

As for the rest, there are 1,120 Stream Processors, plus a dual-slot cooler with three copper heatpipes and a 92mm fan.

Not only that, but PowerColor even went as far as implementing Volterra, Poscap and Proadilizer chips, for better overcloking and power efficiency.

Like basically any other mainstream and high-end AMD Radeon 6000 series board, full support for CrossFireX multi-GPU setups is present. As for connectivity, the board has an HDMI, two mini DisplayPorts and dual-DVI.

Unfortunately, no pricing details were given, but those seeking a direct look at all information need only drop by the official press release on PowerClor's website, or visit the product page.
