As end-users may or may not know, TechPowerUp periodically updates its CPU-Z and GPU-Z programs, and it seems that the latest GPU-Z one did not come alone.

As end-users know, the GeForce GTX 570 video cards from NVIDIA is just a short way off, being the latest Fermi-based GF110 card.

Since it wants its software to always be ready for anything, TechPowerUp went ahead and added support for the card in advance to its GPU-Z application.

For those not up to speed, GPU-Z is a software tool which monitors video cards' parameters, such as voltages, temperatures, clock speeds, fan speeds and, on supported GPUs, usages.

It gets updated on a regular basis, usually around the time when AMD or NVIDIA launch a new card or are about to.

The newest version is GPU-Z 0.4.9 and can also detect the PCI-Express 3.0 bus interface and some upcoming entry-level AMD HD 6000 video controllers as well.

To these they add a number of stability and reliability updates, as well as fixes to the BIOS >64k reading on GF110 and to the TMU count on GF104.

The other important part of the news, however, is the fact that PowerColor is hosting a giveaway.

Several graphics cards models can land in the hands of lucky customers, some of them even belonging to the most recent series of boards form Advanced Micro Devices.

The cards in question are the PowerColor HD 6870 PCS+ and the PowerColor HD 6850 PCS+, two models of each in fact.

For those interested in a reminder, the HD 6000 series of graphics cards is AMD's latest line and, while based on the same 40nm process as the HD 5000, are, or course, superior.

The HD 6870 and 6850 are aimed at the higher level of the mainstream market, the performance segment as it is otherwise known.

For more information, one needs only drop by TechPowerup's official announcement, which is located here.
