The PlayStation 3 version of Portal 2 will not receive any extra support for the PlayStation Move motion detection peripheral, with Valve denying a report that has been making the rounds on the web since yesterday.

Portal 2 is rapidly approaching its release date, and seeing as how the PlayStation 3 edition is set to be filled with great features, many were pondering if Valve, the game's developer, is going to add support for Sony's PlayStation Move technology.

Yesterday a report arrived from the German version of the PlayStation Blog, where Valve's Chet Faliszek seemingly confirmed that Portal 2 is going to get "complete" PlayStation Move support when it is released on the Sony console.

Valve acted fast and has just released an official statement, in which it denies any type of support for the PlayStation Move in Portal 2.

"There's a story making the rounds regarding Portal 2 support for PS3 Move. Unfortunately this quote was "lost in translation" -- Portal 2 does not include support for Sony's motion controller," Valve revealed to CVG.

It seems that the translation into English wasn't exactly up to par, and many understood that Portal 2 will be, in fact, compatible with the Move.

This made quite a lot of sense, as Valve boss Gabe Newell confirmed on the stage of E3 last year that the PlayStation 3 edition of Portal 2 is going to be the "best version on any console."

This is largely due to the fact that Sony will let Valve implement support for its own Steamworks online service, as well as the Steam Cloud feature, which backs up the save games of players onto Valve's own servers for quick and easy access anywhere and anytime.

What's more, if you purchase Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3, you'll also receive a free digital copy for the PC and Mac platforms, which you'll be able to redeem through Valve's online Steam service.

With all these great features, the lack of Move support doesn't seem all that important.

Don't forget that you can already pre-order the game right now and take advantage of a variety of offers, ranging from discounts to exclusive cooperative multiplayer character skins.
