As you may or may not know, Porsche is not just a luxury and sports car manufacturer, as more than 30 years ago the company started producing exclusive accessories too (not really related to cars) and now we get to have Porsche watches, ties and other similar products. Since June 2007, there is also a Porsche mobile phone, a luxury one, of course: Porsche P9521. The handset is created in collaboration with Sagem, the French electronics producer, and was first available in France. Other countries followed, including UK, Romania and the exotic Egypt and now the Porsche P9521 luxury phone is finally released in Germany, where the Porsche headquarters are.

Released via Vodafone, Porsche P9521 is now available for the German market at a higher price than Apple's iPhone, for which T-Mobile is the exclusive carrier. Actually the Porsche phone's price is two times higher than iPhone's, as it comes for 999 Euros (meaning $1,466) with a contract and 1,199 Euros ($1,760) without. But this doesn't mean that it's a competitor for Apple's handset, although Vodafone would have wished so.

Porsche P9521's high price is somehow justified by the way it looks and the features it packs. First of all, the luxury handset is made from aluminum and mineral glass and has a unique design that allows users to open and rotate it by 360 degrees. It comes with an excellent 2.2 inch touch-sensitive display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto-focus, MP3 player, Bluetooth, EDGE and fingerprint recognition. In conclusion, the phone can make an exquisite gift for those who enjoy luxury and performance.

Porsche P9521 will soon be available in more countries, including the US, where an official launch is planned for the beginning of 2008. Rumors say that this will not remain the only Porsche mobile phone and the manufacturer is working on other new designs. We're waiting to see if the future handsets will also be created in collaboration with Sagem or maybe another manufacturer - Nokia, Sony Ericsson... We'll see.
