Superbot Entertainment, the developer behind the game, has stated on the official Facebook page that it plans to offer support for arcade stick peripherals when it is launched later during the year, allowing the hardcore crowd to get superior control over their characters.

The development team says that, “The joystick takes care of the character’s movement and combines with the Square, Triangle, and Circle buttons to perform the full range of 24 unique attacks. In fact, joystick inputs behave exactly the same as DualShock 3 D-pad inputs would, so arcade stick functionality is natively supported in PlayStation All-Stars.”

The PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale team added, “The only exception is the throw command, which uses the Right Stick on the DualShock controller. With an arcade stick, throws are simply performed with an easy button combination, similar to many traditional fighting games.”

PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale allows gamers to pick a character from a large selection based on popular game series and then battle up to three other enemies on a variety of stages, gathering power for special attacks and seeking to deliver more punishment than they get.

The game has been criticized as being too similar to Super Smash Bros. but Sony has countered by saying that the character cast is very different and that players will have to use a set of entirely new mechanics.

The cast of characters includes the Bid Daddy, Nathan Drake, Kratos, Fat Princess, Nariko and Raiden.

I got to play PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale at E3 2012 and I found the experience fun and quick, although at times I was a little overwhelmed by all the things going on at the same time.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is set to arrive on October 23 of this year, exclusively on the PlayStation 3 home console from Sony.
