The president of publicher Take Two has said that the PlayStation 3 with the Move motion tracking system, and by extension the Xbox 360 with the Kinect addition, are akin to a Nintendo Wii HD and could significantly expand the number of customers interested in home gaming consoles.

Ben Feder, who is the president of Take Two, has told the audience at the Kaufman Brothers, L.P. Investor Conference in New York City that, “What Sony and Microsoft have really done with Kinect and Move, especially Move, is provide a bridge for guys that are used to playing the Wii system with the wand and bringing them over to a HD system.”

The remarks came after a short story about how his son was not inviting over any friends because he lacked a High Definition system like the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.

Feder added, “The PS3 with Move, in my view, is the Wii HD system. I think maybe Mom isn’t playing, but the kids are ‘graduating,’ and Microsoft and Sony have both provided a bridge to bring them over.”

Microsoft and Sony are both hoping that they will be able to get some of the current Nintendo Wii users to move over to their devices by promising better (meaning mostly more accurate) controls and the ability to play some HD versions of the mini games that already know.

Feder also briefly touched on the subject of Grand Theft Auto, Take Two's most important franchise, telling the listeners that his company is not yet prepared to announce anything but implying that the game is under development.

Still Take Two is more than happy to talk about what it aims to release during the coming year, leading with names such as the much delayed L.A. Noire, Duke Nukem Forever, Spec Ops: The Line, XCOM and Top Spin 4.
