The gaming industry is always on the lookout for new popular aspects of society from which it can draw inspiration for its products. One such domain that has supplied a lot of companies with ideas for games is the sports one, with titles such as Madden NFL or FIFA gaining a huge number of fans and registering massive sales.

But team sports aren't the only ones exploited by the gaming industry, as wrestling has also become quite popular, especially with North American customers. As such, THQ has released its WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise, which provides players with a very interesting experience, complete with almost all of the wrestlers in the major fighting series.

The latest iteration, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, has sold pretty well and has been completed by a DLC pack, which was already released for the PlayStation 3, arriving at a later time for the Xbox 360. Now it seems that PS3 owners will get another dose of new features added to their copy of the game, as THQ has announced that it has released a patch that will address the Create-a-Superstar mode of the game, which allows you to make your own wrestler.

“The Create-a-Superstar feature has always been a very popular component of the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise,” said Cory Ledesma, senior creative manager, THQ. “The new patch will give players more flexibility and greatly enhance their ability to fully customize multiple Created Superstars at the same time.”

It seems that new features for their custom wrestlers will be added once they go through the Career mode several times, but, for those who don't have time to play again through that mode, a special code, “MAXCAS,” can be introduced and it will deliver the unlocked attributes to the custom wrestler. Also, it seems that Xbox 360 owners will receive their own patch at a later time, with the press release stating that it will appear in early 2009.

It looks like THQ definitely wants to keep players very interested in this game and will take any measure necessary including DLC or patches to bring new content that appeals to them.
