Tivo-like features and much more

Even if you don't have a PS3 yet, you have until March to get one. I mentioned March, not because it is the official European release date, but because Phil Harrison hinted that in March the PlayStation 3 will see a major firmware update.

At least this is what a few attendees, of a meeting between Phil Harrison and Sony funded blog ThreeSpeech, claim. According to them, the upcoming firmware update will include XMB multi-tasking, new XMB display options, new animations for audio playback, new photo album options, PlayStation Store auto-resume and PSP Remote Access option for accessing PS3 via any Internet connection.

Apparently, Sony is planning to incorporate Tivo-like features into its next-gen, most probably in the late summer of 2007, if we are to believe 1up. Furthermore, the Sony funded blog reveals that European gamers should expect to receive few if not none 20GB PlayStation 3's.

I must remind all European Sony fans that over the past few days, rumors of the PS3 European launch sparkled all over the web. The ones who started this rumor are the guys over at CVG. If we are to believe them, the PS3 won't come to Europe until September of 2007. For all of our sakes, I hope that this rumors isn't true.

The CVG source explains this European release day by the fact that Sony is experiencing component shortages. Does it sound familiar? They experienced the same kind of troubles just before the US release...
