Ubisoft and Sony have just revealed that the PlayStation 3 versions of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be getting exclusive day one downloadable content in the form of the Copernicus Conspiracy.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the latest installment in Ubisoft's extremely successful franchise, and will appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this month, and later on for the PC.

This new announcement aims at swaying those who want the new game to buy it for the PlayStation 3, as the Copernicus Conspiracy DLC will be available as a free download right when the game launches, on November 16.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the add-on will serve as a separate side quest for main character Ezio Auditore, and will see him interact with famed Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.

"This additional content revolves around Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who will have extra assignments for Ezio, including courier, assassination and protection missions," revealed the PlayStation Blog post. "The missions are part of a storyline involving a conspiracy against Copernicus and his heliocentric philosophy, which was revolutionary at the time."

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood aims at continuing the story from Assassin's Creed 2, with the same hero, Ezio, trying to take down the corrupt Borgia family in Rome.

Players will have to rely more on their companions and helpers, as Brotherhood puts a heavier focus on teamwork in order to take down targets and assassinate people.

The game is also the first in the series to have a multiplayer mode, where players can try to assassinate one another without being spotted among the AI-controlled characters.

Will this new DLC sway your platform choice for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood or is this just another move by console makers that harms gaming, like the recent Microsoft-Bethesda deal that allows exclusive DLC for Fallout: New Vegas to appear on the Xbox 360?
