Iomega presented a hard disk with audio, video and image playback functions. The ScreenPlay drive can be connected to any TV through the A/V system. There is no need to connect the hard drive to a computer in order to display its content.

The external ScreenPlay hard disk features
a 60 GB capacity, enough to store a decent number of digital files. The device connects to the computer via USB 2.0, offering transfer speeds of up to 60 MB/s.

Iomega added to ScreenPlay's package a wireless remote control, with DVD-remote like buttons. The video formats that can be played by the new external hard disk are MPEG-1/2/4, JPEG, MP3 and AC3. The video outputs are NTSC/PAL composite and S-Video.

ScreenPlay comes in two colors, silver and black, and the price is around US$220.

Looking at the media features of Iomega ScreenPlay we can say that this product is quite competitive, but more storage space would have been welcome for those who have lots of digital media on their computers. Just a DVD quality movie is 4.7GB, so if we store 2-3 movies, a part of our music library and the photos from last year's holidays we will easily fill the hard drive.
