Those who thought Samsung was the only one with a new hands free headset out in the open can be certain they were mistaken, as Plantronics also prepared one, dubbed marque M155.

Smartphones have been getting more and more feature-packed lately, but even with new hardware and apps there are things they can't do alone.

Fulfilling their main role as communications device is one thing they fail at if their owners don't have their hands free.

As such, makers of such things make it a point of periodically offering Bluetooth headsets meant to cover for this perceived deficiency.

Samsung showed off the upcoming HM7000 not long ago and, now, Plantronics has announced its own, dubbed Marque M155.

“Smartphone users want to harness the power of their phones to complement and simplify their busy lives,” said Elizabeth Hamren, Plantronics' vice president of marketing.

“The Marque lets them take advantage of the full range of their phone's capabilities, even while talking or listening to music or a podcast, all in a great looking, super lightweight device.”

Utilizing the Bluetooth 3.0 technology, the newcomer can connect to one or two devices at the same time, thanks to the Multipoint technology.

It can also relay GPS directions, music and, through voice recognition technology, control the smartphone on vocal command.

Vocalyst Voice and Text Services are present as well, with one-year subscription, which enable one to send e-mails and text messages, post on Twitter and Facebook and even check the weather, all without need for hands.

As for how enduring the item is, standby time is rated for up to 9 days (a micro USB port can charge it in 2 hours) and the talk time is of up to 5 hours.

Finally, the newcomer weighs 7 grams and should already be up for pre-order through Amazon, though full availability (through Verizon, T-Mobile, Best Buy) is set for late October. Jet Black and Arctic White versions will sell at a price of $59.99 (44.04 Euro).
