$150,000

What's with these people and the insanely expensive loudspeakers? I mean, most rich people have a certain age that has nothing to do with hundreds of watts. So the logical question is "Who would buy loudspeakers with prices starting from $100.000?"

However, this question is not the purpose of this article. The purpose is to show you the Model-D music system coming from the Steinway Lyngdorf, a partnership between piano master Steinway & Sons and audio guru Lyngdorf.

For a modest sum of $150,000 (as reported by Geekologie), you rich people get two humongous tower loudspeakers and one receiver boasting Lyngdorf's RoomPerfect acoustic calibration system aimed at adjusting the sound settings to the room's geometry.

Unfortunately, we have only few screenshots from the official page, the specifications not being yet available. The Model-D music system will be manufactured in a limited series and it will be available in the fall of 2007.

And since we're talking about expensive loudspeakers, I hope you remember the pure aluminum Muon, which stand about 7 feet tall and weigh a nifty 253 pounds each. These babies house no less than 8 speakers of which 2 are subwoofers and are rear-mounted.

Precision-milled and machined aluminum was used in the construction of the Muon loudspeakers and the final shape was achieved by vacuum forming of the heated aluminum sheets so perfection of the roundness envisioned by designer Ross Lovegrove (iMac, Walkman) could be achieved.

But both loudspeakers pale compared to the "Grand Enigma", with an unearthly price tag of 1 million dollars.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
