The Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has announced a while ago that, during the ongoing year, it intends to release to the market new handsets that would sport, among other operating systems, the already-popular Google Android platform.

Samsung has informed about its plans referring to the Android platform, yet hasn't released any details regarding the handsets that should be developed for the operating system. While up until now nothing has been made available in this direction, today we have the chance to take a look at what might become the company's first Android-based handset, which has been showcased at an online event held in Amsterdam.

What we are able to see in the image that has surfaced to the Web is a device that sports full touchscreen capabilities, while also featuring rounded edges and a series of buttons on the lower side. There are not too many details that one could get from looking at the picture, yet we can have at least an idea of how the Samsung Android handset could look like.

For the time being, there are not too many particulars on the capabilities of the device either. Besides the already-mentioned touchscreen display, with no info on the resolution it should feature, though, the handset might also sport a quad-band GSM connectivity, an HSDPA / HSUPA one, as well as a photo snapper and a memory card slot for additional storage space.

Given the fact that the mobile phone will run under the Google Android platform, we should also see it coming with support for Google Maps or Gmail, as well as with some nice browsing capabilities. While these details are only assumptions, there is nothing that we could say for the time being about the launch date of the device, although it seems that it is expected to come to both European and US markets.
