It would appear that solid state drives aren't the only sort of storage devices getting serious in terms of speed, as Patriot also delivered a very fast flash drive that, besides shattering transfer rates, has a high storage capacity as well.

Those that have been paying attention to the IT industry lately will probably know that, currently, the CeBIT 2011 trade show is being held in Hannover, Germany.

There, companies from around the world have convened and already begun showing off their various products, old and new alike.

Unfortunately, as some may have noticed, there seems to be a severe lack of actual news, at least compared to previous editions of the same event.

Fortunately, not all is lost, seeing as how the storage market, at least, has been slowly freshening up.

What this means is that newer and faster devices are showing up, like Patriot's Wildfire solid state drive series.

Still, according to the folks over at Hexus, there are more things at Patriot's booth than just those particular 2.5-inch SSDs.

One of them is the SuperSonic Magnum, which really is an entire series of storage solutions in and of itself.

Essentially, it is a line of USB Flash drives equipped with the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface and an eight-channel controller.

By the combined might of these two design elements, Supersonic Magnum can actually reach transfer rates of 200 MB/s and 110 MB/s when reading and writing data, respectively.

Considering that 100 GB can thus, supposedly, be read in under 10 minutes, one can be sure that the newcomer will perform admirably even in its highest-capacity version, that being of 128 GB.

Unfortunately, no pricing or availability details were given by the report, although there is absolutely no doubt that it will be high enough for only top-tier consumers to acquire.
