The US division of the South Korea-based Pantech has officially presented today its new clamshell phone, named Pantech C610. Like most of the Pantech handsets targeted for US users, this one is made available via AT&T, North America's largest mobile carrier.

Pantech C610 is a mid to low-end phone that comes with some good-to-have multimedia features, as well as with other basic ones. Among its capabilities, we must mention A-GPS, 3G connectivity, Music player, Music ID recognition, MobiRadio, AT&T Video Share, Instant Messaging (Windows Live, Yahoo Messenger, AIM) and a 1.3 Megapixel camera with video recording. The handset further sports a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels and 260K colors, and a 1-inch CSTN external display with a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels. Its internal memory is not known, but a microSD card slot is included.

The C610 weighs 3.25 ounces (92 grams) and, when not flipped, measures 3.67 x 1.81 x .72 inches (93 x 46 x 18 millimeters). Its battery should be capable of lasting up to 3 hours in talk-time mode or up to 10 days in stand-by – not that great, but those who are not "heavy users" should do just fine with it.

Talking about the new handset, Patrick Beattie, vice president of sales and marketing at Pantech Wireless, stated, "Pantech remains determined to developing unique approaches to everyday products. The C610 combines a sleek, fashionable design with desirable features like AGPS and an assortment of multi-media capabilities to bring users a product that is attractive and functional in equal parts."

Pantech C610 should be available from AT&T as of today, October 6, in a metropolitan red color (with some chrome accents that offer it a more distinct look). Its price is not known yet, but expect it to be a wallet-friendly one.

This being said, if you're in the US and you are looking for a new budget phone this fall, Pantech C610 might be just the right choice.
