Pantech, the third largest South Korean handset manufacturer (Samsung and LG are the first two), has recently announced the upcoming release of a new mobile phone named Pantech C600. The C600 is a clamshell that doesn't bring too many advanced features but it can still be considered a nice phone.

The handset's full list of specs unveils the following: quad-band GMS connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, dual-band UMTS connectivity (850 / 1900 MHz), a 1.8 inch TFT internal display with 262K colors and 176 x 200 pixels, a 1-inch external display with only 65K colors and 96 x 96 pixels, MP3 player, Video player, Bluetooth 1.2, USB, 25MB of internal memory and microSD card support. The camera integrated in the new Pantech clamshell has a LED flash as well as the ability to record video, but unfortunately it's only a VGA one (0.3 Megapixels), so it can not allow users to take good-quality photos.

Pantech C600 weighs 75 grams and, when closed, it measures 90 x 45 x 18.8 millimeters. The handset comes with a 930 mAh battery which should keep it functional for up to (only) 3 hours in talk-time mode and up to 250 hours in stand-by mode.

Pantech says that the C600 will first be available in Mexico, offered by Telcel, the largest mobile carrier in the country (more than 51.5 million subscribers). The retail price of C600 is not known for the moment, but it will be announced when Telcel releases the clamshell, sometime at the beginning of August.

No details yet about the other markets that will get the C600 but, since the handset features global connectivity, it can be released in lots of countries across Asia, Europe and America (including the US, where AT&T is known for continuously offering Pantech phones).
