The high quality video makes even some RED camcorders jealous

Panasonic's GH2 has proven to be quite an impressive bit of kit even in its standard form, but a recent firmware hack makes this mirorless interchangeable camera even more attractive for video amateurs.

Cutting a long story short, the new hacked FW that was made its appearance on the Web has the possibility of making the camera's video quality much better.

Out of the box, Panasonic's creation is capable of recording video in 24Mbit AVCHD format at a Full HD resolution, which is just good enough for most of us.

But there are some users out there that simply need to have more, and this is where this hack comes in.

By loading a special firmware on the GH2, Panasonic's customers can enable a special 176Mbit AVCHD Intra mode, which has a huge impact on the image quality of the recording.

Responsible for most of the improvements in the Intra technology, that unlike the regular mode used, captures and stores every frame that comes from the sensor, compared to 24Mbit AVCHD which just records some key frames determined by the camera.

The difference in quality is downright impressive, pretty much surpassing every other mirorless or DSLR camera out there. Take a look for yourself at the demo video if you don't believe me (make sure to watch it on Vimeo view it in Full HD resolution). (via 43 rumors)
