Sprint has designed a special site for announcing the future release of Palm Centro, the smallest handset coming from this producer. The page, which you can access here, also includes a countdown clock and details on the price that it will come at.

There's no more need for leaked images and rumors on a potential release for Palm's Centro smartphone, as the device is now officially heading towards Sprint stores. Unfortunately, specifications are still based on rumors, as the carrier has provided no such details. Still, it promises that the phone will be capable of making work mobile and taking it out of the office through the support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files.

Palm Centro also enables the user to send emails and instant messages, as well as enjoy some entertainment through the media player. Sprint targets this smartphone especially towards the business customers that need reliable communication devices both for their work and personal life, as well as a device that helps them stay organized.

The phone includes a 1.3 megapixel camera capable of taking some low quality captures, along with support for Sprint's TV service. That will impress nobody, although the compact, smooth design might. At the dimensions of 117 x 65 x 13.8 mm, this is the smallest Palm smartphone and should also bring some high functionality with its QWERTY keypad. Rumors state that it also includes 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, although an official statement should make its performances official.

Palm Centro will be available at Sprint, starting the 28th of September, for the price of USD 100 after a USD 100 mail-in rebate, with a minimum USD 25 data plan and a two year contract. The smartphone will be available at this operator in a fashionable red and black, although there is no word on the white Palm Centro that has leaked until now.
