Homebrew titles to take advantage of this feature

Do you know NEO? It's the name of the main character from the Matrix series and also the name of a company that's famous for its gaming flash drives. NEO has created an accessory for the famous Playstation Portable console that adds a little bit of motion sensing to the gaming experience. Now, the portable gaming device will detect movement, probably using the same technology included in the Nintendo Wii, based on an accelerometer.

We're surprised to see that the gadget is so small and that it can be plugged into the PSP's headphone jack. The problem is that NEO's device won't work with retail software releases, so we're in for some homebrewing action thanks to the little gadget. Now, hardcore programmers that want to create PSP titles that resemble the DS blockbusters get a chance to test their skills thanks to NEO's gadget. We've seen a PSP touchscreen surfacing online and now this... Is Nintendo DS the new standard in the world of portable gaming?

The sales figures speak for themselves, as the PSP has gone under, being surpassed by the Xbox 360, but our money's on some serious sales at Christmas time, at least in the case of the Slim PSP. Since homebrewers came up with a software that turns your PSP into a PC controller, why shouldn't we use the portable console as a PS3 motion sensing joystick? It will surely be the heaviest "SIXAXIS" available, but at least it will be an innovation for the people that dislike the average PS3 joystick.

What's next? Another screen added to the PSP and some stylus-touchscreen action? Till now Sony has stayed true to its original recipe, but the homebrewers are the ones causing the trouble turning the PSP into a stylish DS that's more of a hybrid than an innovation.
