PSP adds Internet browser, personalization tools, enhanced audio and video playback through Firmware 2.0 Upgrade

Sony Computer Entertainment recently announced the availability of an all-new firmware upgrade for the PlayStationPortable system. This upgrade was designed to complete the entertainment experience of games, photos, music and wireless connection provided by this revolutionary device.

The following features will be available with the PSP 2.0 upgrade.

Video features : * Go To feature, that will allow users watching a movie to forward/go back anywhere in the movie * A-B repeat function and saved video data playback feature that will allow users to continuously loop a given scene * 4:3 screen mode will be available * Expanded Audio Options: * AVC added as a codec that can be played under [Video](applies to video data saved on Memory Stick)

Audio features : * Mp4(AAC) and WAV(LPCM) formats can be played by the PSP music player * Support for Memory Stick Duo

Image features : * Wireless image transfer between two PSP units via the infrared port * Support for TIFF, PNG, GIF and BMP image formats

Network features : * WPA-PSK(TKIP) security method added to protect data and privacy while connected to public wireless networks * Improved controls during Infrastructure mode

Additional features : * Character sets added to support each system language pack * Korean added as an optional system language * Input modes added to the On-Screen keyboard. This will allow users to activate special characters for other languages.

This firmware upgrade can be easily downloaded directly to a PSP using a Wi-Fi connection, or downloaded to a PC from http://us.playstation.com/psp and transferred to the PSP via an USB cable.
