Looks like Sony continues to be greedy and wants to make more money off their gaming device. After the PS3 debuted with an enormous price (around US$ 600), it is now time for handled devices to come in the spotlight.

Everybody expected Sony to unveil and price the 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for the PSP at this year's Consumer's Electronics Show, and so they did. They announced that the device will be available in February and will cost no more and no less than US$ 300. The new memory stick weighs about 2 grams, it is 0.79-inches wide and 1.22 inches long, and - by the looks of it - this new flash memory uses a ten-pin Serial Memory Stick interface.

You can use it to store whatever content you like, and you can attach it to your PSP, and also use it to expand the memory of your other Sony devices, should you have other. It can be used for gadgets like the Sony mylo personal communicator, Sony Ericsson mobile phones and of course, the PlayStation 3. You can also integrate it in all Cyber-shot digital still cameras.

Once you cough up the US$ 300 needed for the 8GB memory stick you also get an adapter for those devices using a standard-size Memory Stick media slot. For those among you who wanna get more technical I must report that this new memory stick offers the highest durability in the flash media marketplace with a standard operating temperature range of -13 F to +185 F, according to Mike Kahn, senior manager for Memory Stick Media at Sony Electronics.
