No word on the downloadable version's price though...

In a recent report, Sony has revealed to the world that Warhawk will be retailing for $59.99. Cheap right? Well, it's actually cheaper than you thought, given that the full package includes the predicted headset. The thing is Warhawk was rumored to be a multiplayer-only downloadable title via PlayStation Network. Now that they've confirmed the Blu-ray version, but there's no info on the price of the downloadable version. What's up with that?

The official report, as I found via 1UP, reveals only the following solid information about the game:

The highly anticipated title Warhawk, a PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive, will be available both as a downloadable title via PLAYSTATION Network and at retail stores as a Blu-ray disc on August 28, 2007. The Blu-ray version will retail at stores for $59.99 and will be bundled with a Jabra Bluetooth headset ($39 value), bonus features and upcoming product trailers. Pricing for the PLAYSTATION Network download of Warhawk has not been announced.

So the downloadable version is still on. Phew! OK, why didn't they price it...? It's not like they can teleport you the Jabra Bluetooth headset when the game is being downloaded to your PS3's HDD, so minus the 40 bucks for the headset... well, the game should set you back no more than $20 to $30 as a downloadable via PSN. It makes sense, doesn't it?

Anyway, although the game promises to have many different playable vehicles (including ground units) to allow a player in a flying craft to hover and hop out and also to give players the possibility to choose whether to fight the war in the air or on land, these options will only be available in a multiplayer mode, the only mode Warhawk will present them with. The game is also said to take good advantage of the SIXAXIS' motion sensing ability, allowing players to maneuver the aircraft while flying, by moving the controller rather than pressing buttons constantly.

All this being said, stay tuned for the downloadable version's pricing. As soon as we know it, you'll know it, too.
