Games can put the player in anyone's shoes, whether it's a gangster, a police officer, a SWAT team member or an alien. You can be either the bad guy or the good guy, but generally it's the good guy the one everyone wants to be. What if I told you though, that Focus Home Interactive and Frogwares are rolling out a game featuring both types of characters, but appointed for the same job?

Sherlock Holmes mystery - Sherlock Holmes versus Ars?ne Lupin is set for a late 2007 release (probably Christmas), featuring two of the greatest figures in detective literature, squaring off in a 3D adventure that'll give you a great 19th century London-ish experience. More than that, if you're even interested in a video game that might actually teach you a thing or two, instead or forcing you to go back to primary instincts, this title will go beyond Cthulhu (Holmes' last PC adventure - Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened), featuring the world's greatest detective who is now ready to challenge Ars?ne Lupin, the gentleman thief.

Here's the game's description, as presented in the official report:

This new Sherlock Holmes game sends players to 19th Century London where Ars?ne Lupin, a young French burglar with an impressive track record, has just challenged Scotland Yard and the most famous of detectives - Sherlock Holmes. Lupin has announced that he plans to rob the capital of five objects of immense value over the course of five days. The objects are housed in highly prestigious locations such as the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Tower of London and even Buckingham Palace! Sherlock Holmes will have to muster all his courage and ingenuity to save England from the terrible humiliation.

It is said that gamers will also benefit from tremendous freedom and an even stronger sense of involvement through real-time 3D. 19th century London will be presented in all its splendor, while gamers will travel through superb decors which have been faithfully reproduced with the game's 3D engine. It'll feel like you are on your own guided tour of one of Europe's most fabulous cities.
