Battlefield: Bad Company 2's recent Vietnam expansion has just seen the unlock of the special Operation Hastings map, as PC gamers were the first to reach the 69 million team actions mark.

December's been a pretty busy month for owners of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, as not only did they receive four new maps through the Map Pack 7 DLC, but also the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion.

This add-on, besides bringing many new maps, weapons and vehicles, as well as the classic "Battlefield" destructive gameplay, also had a special unlockable map, Operation Hastings.

In order to get access to the map, players on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 needed to complete 69 million team actions in the expansion.

The first to reach the milestone were PC gamers, but DICE, the developer of the Battlefield franchise, decided to unlock the map on all platforms, as a special gift in honor of the new year.

This is a pretty impressive feat for PC players, as the Vietnam expansion was released on December 18, on Steam and the EA Store, and on December 21 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

Besides the Operation Hastings map, the Vietnam add-on has 4 new multiplayer maps, 6 new vehicles and 15 new weapons, not to mention 49 songs from the time of the Vietnam war, in order to enhance the whole experience.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions also have 10 new trophies and achievements, respectively.

You can still opt to buy the Vietnam add-on, for $15 or 1200 MS Points, depending on your platform of choice.

A copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is still required, however, for this expansion to work.

DICE will continue to work on new projects, including the eagerly anticipated Battlefield 3 as well as Battlefield Play4Free, a free online first-person shooter, both set to be launched this year.
