Ready to go to Alaska?

Operation Anchorage, the first piece of downloadable content for Fallout 3, is set to arrive on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and on the PC on January 27 - tomorrow. And it seems that Bethesda, the developer of the game, has seen fit to add four more Achievements to the game, which can be obtained on both platforms thanks to the fact that the PC version of the title uses the Games for Windows Live.

The Achievements are built around four quests that are probably crucial to the DLC pack. You will get “Aiding the Outcasts,” worth 20 points for completing the quest with the same name, “The Guns of Anchorage,” worth the same, for getting through The Guns of Anchorage quest and another 20 GamerPoints and a new title for Paving the Way. Completing the main quest of the new content is set to get you 40 points and the Operation: Anchorage Achievement.

The first piece of the three planned DLC packs for Fallout 3 is set to take the player to Alaska, far from the Capital Wasteland where the main quest of the game took place. Through a simulation, gamers will be able to play an important role in the battles that lead to the liberation of Alaska and Anchorage, which were taken over by the Chinese military just before the nuclear exchange that turned North America into a wasteland.

While those gamers who own an Xbox 360 or a PC version of Fallout 3 are eagerly waiting to get the DLC, PlayStation 3 gamers are probably very disappointed. A deal between Microsoft and Bethesda means that the DLC packs will not arrive on the PS3 and gamers will not be able to get a chance to play the game after the completion of the main quest. A patch might get around to fix this issue at a later time.
