It appears that OnePlus is ready to jump in the smartwatch bandwagon

Most of us are probably already familiar with the name OnePlus. The company made quite a whirlwind when it announced the One smartphone, a device that came equipped with high-end specs and an incredibly low price.

However, while OnePlus is eyeing the high-end smartphone market, the company seems to have plans to make a statement in the budding smartwatch market as well.

BGR India just got tipped that the company was actively working to develop its own smartwatch product, dubbed OneWatch. And guess what? It comes with a round face design, just like the highly-hyped Moto 360.

For the time being, we begin with a sketch detailing the upcoming device and an image seemingly depicting the official OneWatch product page.

As with the One smartphone, the watch will apparently bring some impressive specs to the table. For example, it will have an OLED display protected by Sapphire glass and should boast titanium borders.

The leather strap is home to a curved battery and future users will be able to pump life in it via a Qui wireless charger. Furthermore, in the vein of traditional watches, the OneWatch is supposed to arrive with a crown that can be used to configure the smartwatch.

What we’re not being told is what sort of operating system we’ll see onboard. In all probability, the chosen OS will be Android Wear, but OnePlus might opt to have its own UI (CyanongenMod) plastered on top, which will break the pattern of current Android Wear watches on the market. This might not be a bad idea, after all.

These are all details we can merely speculate upon and we’ll have to see whether time proves us that there is such a smartwatch in the pipeline or not.

The specifications seem quite interesting, to say the least, and if OnePlus throws in a super affordable price tag that will put the Moto 360 to shame, the smartwatch has every chance in succeeding.

Hopefully, this won’t be another prank. A while ago, news surfaced that OnePlus might be readying a tablet. Like in this case, an image showing the tab’s dedicated online page got leaked online, but just a few hours later we learned that everything had actually been a big, fat scam and no tablet was coming.

Since, so far, we only have a sketch of the device, which could have been drawn by anybody, and an image showing a purported product page, we should take the information with a big grain of salt.
