Although it was released in mid November, it seems like Inventec’s Nook Color have been somewhat of a success, the company expecting no less than one million of these units to be shipped to Barnes & Noble in 2010, making this one of the best selling eReaders available.

Furthermore, sources close to Digitimes, and cited by TechEye, report the company is expected to land orders for 6 to 7 millions of Palm webOS tablets from HP sometimes next year.

Thanks to this recent success, Inventec seems to be slowly moving away from the notebook market as it lowered its notebook revenues from 80 percent in 2010 to 70 percent in 2011.

This move could be explained by the recent success that tablet devices have enjoyed compared to notebooks and netbooks, analysts expecting this trend to become even more imposing in the following year.

Available through Barnes & Noble, the Nook Color comes as a mix between a tablet and an eReader thanks to its seven inch color touchscreen that is based on a 1024x600 IPS panel.

The eReader comes with 8GB of internal flash storage that can be upgraded via a microSD card slot, wireless connectivity being also offered through the IEEE 802.11n standard.

Since the Nook Color comes with a full color screen, the device comes with an Internet browser, can playback a wide range of multimedia files, including MPEG-4 video content, as well as various e-Book file formats such as EPUB, PDF, DOC and TXT, to name just a few.

Apart from the pre-installed applications, other extras are also available online, including a wide range of puzzle games and a Pandora Internet radio.

In addition to the $249 Nook Color, Inventec is also expected to ship 5 million notebooks from its Chongqing plant in 2011, according to Inventec Chairman and CEO Richard Lee.
