Publisher Electronic Arts and developer DICE are officially announcing that Mirror's Edge, the futuristic free running game, will surely be launched on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on November 11. We know that a PC version of the game is now still in development and EA says that it should arrive later in the winter.

Mirror's Edge is a very ambitious project, one which created buzz amongst gamers ever since the first gamepleay video was released. As Faith, you are set in the role of a messenger in a world where all electronic communication is pretty much overseen by the government. Those who wish to keep matters private rely on couriers, runners that seek to cross the city while evading the authorities and their surveillance programs. As the main characters, you will need to go through the game's areas relying on your abilities to run, jump and slide around obstacles while trying to answer a mystery that is set on the murder of someone close to you. There will be little in the way of gun play, with firearms slowing you down and taking away speed, a runner’s biggest asset.

Thankfully, the people at DICE understand that it's important to show players your game before asking them to buy it, so a demo version of Mirror's Edge is supposed to hit both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store in the weeks that remain until launch date. The demo is said to include a tutorial section designed to get players acquainted with the free running mechanics of the game, a short portion of the single player experience and a time trial mode that will only be available for those players who have an activation code from pre-ordering the full game.

Get ready to jump around the city on November 11 and, in the meantime, look for the demo on your favorite console.
