OCZ DRAM warranty remains valid after company's withdrawal from the memory market

The announcement that OCZ wants to drop down out of the memory market in order to focus on building SSD drives has left many of the customers puzzled on what will happen to their support and warranties, so the company went on to assure everybody that they won't be left high and dry following this move.

OCZ has always took pride in providing its customers with a full lifetime warranty and this is not going to change now that the company has stopped manufacturing memory modules.

“The warranty for the memory products has not changed at all,” said OCZ Technologies CMO, Alex Mei, in an interview with the HardwareCanucks website.

“While we may not always have replacement product for customers in the long term [...] we will continue to support our customers whether through replacement, credit towards another product or refund.

We appreciate all our customers business and will work with all of them to make sure they are taken care of should any issues arise,” continued the company's rep.

In the same interview, Mr. Mei also pointed out that owners of DDR and DDR2 memory modules would be offered comparable DDR3 replacements if the need arose, as the company held a high enough supply of memory modules.

In the event that a replacement part is not in the company's stock, users will be able to get a refund.

This can take the shape of either a monetary refund or a credit that can be used for purchasing another memory kit or other OCZ products, such as SSDs and PSUs.

OCZ will continue to sell a wide series of memory modules through what the company official has referred to as a “wind down period.”

The company announced its decision to cease all future DRAM development during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
