The extra cooler is a must-have accessory if you want to keep that 360 alive

Some of you may remember that a little while ago, the Air Flo extra cooling system from Pelican was revealed for Sony's Playstation3. It is an additional external cooler that joins the PS3 internal cooler to keep things "cool" (literally) for the PS3 gamer. Xbox 360 fans already have something similar, but not as good. That's why Nyko has stepped into the scene for Elite gamers. That's right, extra cooling system for the Xbox 360 Elite.

Nyko Technologies is a premier peripherals manufacturer for those who aren't very familiar with the brand, who today announced that they have shipped new versions of the Intercooler EX and Charge Station specifically designed for the Xbox 360 Elite.

"Niko is a company dedicated to delivering what our customers want whether it is augmenting our existing products or providing new solutions that enhance their overall gaming experience," said Chris Arbogast, marketing manager at Nyko Technologies. "The Intercooler EX and Charge Station 360 compliment the Xbox 360 Elite and deliver new features that fans of the originals have been asking for."

Official reports point out that Nyko's Intercooler EX, the latest version of the company's well known cooling system for the Xbox 360, improves upon the original by adding a variety of new, user-demanded features, including support for the wireless adapter. In addition to providing a superior cooling solution that improves air circulation away from the Xbox 360, the Intercooler EX also features a new locking mechanism that ensures an easy, secure installation.

They've matched it to the Elite's color scheme and, as you can imagine, the Intercooler EX comes in a black matte finish. The Intercooler EX will set you back some 20 bucks, and it's already available at select retailers and Nyko's online store. There's also the white Intercooler EX for the original Xbox 360.

As for the Nyko Charge Station 360, it is being released in a black color scheme, also to improve gamers' time with the 360, if they're looking to provide their new Elite controllers with a renewable power source. Included are two rechargeable NiMH battery packs, as well as a convenient dual-port charger that operates off any standard AC current, providing a faster charge than the USB one. This one's also available at select retailers and Nyko's online store, but for $29.99.

Beats Sony's third party accessories right there; at least for the PS3 anyway. See which of the two new accessories you need. That extra cooler makes a good investment. I hear that 360s die rapidly from heat.
