A major software update

One of the latest handsets from the Espoo, Finland-based mobile phone maker Nokia to receive a software update was the Nokia X6. This highly appealing touchscreen device has just received firmware v21.0.004 from its maker, enabling its users to enjoy the benefits of a rather major update, such as enhancements, fixes, improvements or new features.

The new firmware v21.0.004 for the Nokia X6 (the first one to boast a capacitive touchscreen) can be downloaded via the Ovi Suite and the Nokia Software Update, a recent article on All About Symbian states. For the time being, the solution might not be available for download over the air, not to mention that, most probably, it won't show up for users in all markets were the device went on sale. Carrier branded/locked handsets should receive it at a later time.

According to the news site, the release notes for firmware v21.0.004 for the Nokia handset would include: - Browser updated to 7.2.5.2 - Shazam v2.5 added (30 day trial version) - Video Telephony upgraded - Mail for Exchange updated to v2.9.210 - Stability improvements, optimizations and speed improvements

With a series of upgrades brought in for some of the core applications on the Nokia X6, the new software solution should indeed be seen as a major update, it seems. Moreover, it seems that the actual changes might extend beyond what the above changelog includes, and that some of the Ovi apps on the handset were updated too, as well as the Flash features of the device, not to mention that the kinetic scrolling has been improved.

Users interested in installing the new software update on their Nokia X6 mobile phones should consider performing a back-up before launching the process. Although the device can keep all files intact through the installation, performing a back up can prove a great idea at all times, as any personal information on the mobile phone would be much safer this way.
