Last month, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced the upcoming availability of its Nokia TV application for devices running under Windows Phone, though confirmed it only for users in its homeland country.

Today, we learn that the mobile application is available for download for Nokia Lumia users in Finland, providing them with access to favorite TV shows straight from their mobile phones. All that users need to do is to search for it in the app portal.

In the Windows Phone Marketplace, the new mobile application is listed as capable of providing users with the possibility to browse lists of television services available locally at a single site.

Moreover, it will also enable them to easily search all services available at one time, and to select the show they want to watch and start playing immediately.

When announcing the mobile app, Nokia said that it would offer support for broadcasters’ existing internet TV business models.

Nokia TV users will be able to browse or search through the available catalogues of TV services from major local broadcasters without the need to sign-up or register. Moreover, they will be able to play these TV shows on their devices without registration as well.

Nokia TV is yet another exclusive application that the Finnish handset vendor has launched for its users, in an attempt to differentiate from other phone makers.

Previously, Nokia provided its Windows Phone users with applications such as Nokia Music and Nokia Reading, as well as with access to navigation services through the Nokia Maps app.

Unfortunately, the company did not offer info on whether the new Nokia TV will be pushed to users outside Finland as well, though it might unveil more on this soon.

However, it seems that those users who own a Nokia Lumia smartphone and have the Marketplace link to the application can download and install the app even if they are outside Nokia’s homeland country.
