Nokia Siemens Networks has just signed a contract with China Mobile Group Yunnan in order to expand the country's GSM network. This agreement reassures Nokia Siemens's position as the main supplier for the mobile operator.

The contract that the two companies have just signed is worth a total of 70 million euros. Moreover, this comes in the context of several other deals signed by Nokia Siemens Networks, all highly profitable for the company.

They will be providing their services in urban and rural areas too from 11 cities of the Yunnan province. This means more than 10 million new subscribers for Nokia Siemens Networks to bring services to.

"Nokia Siemens Networks is leading as an end-to-end solution provider in our mobile telecommunication infrastructure market, bringing rich global experience and local competence to customers", said Lin Zhenghui, General Manager of YNMCC.

"The number of subscribers increases very fast in China, both in city and rural areas. Thus mobile voice and data bandwidth need to be expanded. With the EDGE upgrade and our UltraSite BTS Mini Outdoor we fulfill the expectations of our customer and provide a new solution for rural coverage", commented Zhang Zhiqiang, head of Greater China Region, Nokia Siemens Networks.

This shows a considerable amount of possibilities to be deployed by this company as to strengthen their position on the Chinese market. The contract also includes specifications on a service management system that Nokia Siemens Networks will support. Moreover, they will also offer care and delivery services for the equipment, just to make sure that nothing important is left out.

Nokia Siemens Networks is the leading global enabler of telecommunication services. At a worldwide level, it manages to bring its EDGE technology with more than 120 references. Moreover, its activity in China has managed to introduce the biggest GSM network in the area.
