Nokia has just confirmed that its MeeGo smartphone, the N9 will be available in Singapore later this month for a suggested retail price of $660 (16GB) or $745 (64GB).

The phone is said to be available at all Nokia stores and major retailers, but no operators confirmed that they will carry the N9, which means no subsidized price options for the device.

According to Nokia, the phone will be made available in other Asian countries as well, for prices that will be disclosed in due time.

It is also worth mentioning that the Finnish company decided to limit the availability of the N9 to avoid any competition between the MeeGo smartphone and its upcoming Windows Phone Mango handsets.

Even though Nokia N9 received tremendous positive feedback since it was announced back in June, the company stated that it will not continue to produce MeeGo phones despite the good reception of the mobile platform.

Furthermore, the Finnish handset maker confirmed that Nokia N9 will not be available in several major markets, including Unites States, UK, Germany and Switzerland.

However, those who live in one of the countries that won't get the N9, but really want to purchase it might be able to do so through other channels, such as online retailers.

Rumors has it that Nokia N9's design might be similar with one of the first Windows Phone Mango smartphones that will be released in Q1 2012.

The handset is equipped with a single core 1GHz processor manufactured by Texas Instruments, and a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processing unit.

Its 8-megapixel camera on the back boasts Carl Zeiss optics, along with autofocus, dual LED flash and video recording capabilities (720p@30fps).

Just like the iPhone, Nokia N9 only supports microSIM cards, which means that regular SIM cards cannot be used at all.

In addition, the smartphone supports NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic and Dolby Digital Plus for a better multimedia experience.
