14 DAY TRIAL // A new Nokia Messaging for IM client is now available for download, designed specifically for handsets that sport touchscreen displays, such as Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini. Only in a beta flavor for the time being, the new Nokia Messaging for IM application comes with a great focus on the user experience, enabling people perform various actions via a single click, or only a few of them.
Through Nokia Messaging, users should be able to easily mobilize their email, IM and social networking on Nokia phones, and the new solution is aimed at offering an experience similar to the one offered on a desktop computer. Staying connected with friends or communities is easier now, especially since one can log into more than one account at a time. Some of the main features of the new beta flavor of Nokia Messaging for IM include: - Chat with your friends on the Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi communities. - (new!) Easily change your custom status, avatar (picture) and switch between conversations and communities with just a few taps on touch-based devices. - (new!) Preview new messages in the Chat home screen widget. When signed in to multiple communities, the widget will cycle between them. You can also change your presence within the widget itself. - See your friends' avatars and set your own using the camera or an image from your gallery (for Windows Live Messenger (new!), Gtalk (new!) and Ovi communities).
According to the guys over at Nokia Beta Labs, the new touch-based beta client has been tested on Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini, and also passed early tests on Nokia 5800 and Nokia X6. The development team has focused on enhancing performance with the new solution, learning from previous releases. The application was previously released for other handsets too and can be downloaded from the Ovi Store, while being pre-installed on several S40 devices.
