The smartphones will be available beginning this week

Ten days after Nokia put the Lumia 800 and 710 on pre-orders, the smartphones hit shelves in India beginning today. Nokia India has just announced it will kick off sales of Lumia 800 and 710 with a grandiose launch event, which is part of the “Amazing Everyday” campaign.

 

Nokia fans anxiously waiting for the smartphones to arrive in stores should know that the Lumia 800 will be available for Rs 29,999 (570 USD or 435 EUR), while the Lumia 710 can be grabbed for Rs 18,999 (360 USD or 275 EUR) outright.

 

According to the IndiaTimes, the campaign includes a mega musical event in Delhi on Friday, and toll exemption for more than 15,000 cars at DND Freeway connecting Delhi and Noida.

 

It appears that Nokia employees have been spoiled all week with various events held in the office meant to raise their excitement on the upcoming release of the Lumia 800 and 710 in India.

 

It's a gamechanger for us. We have redefined what we mean to the consumers,” said Nokia India Marketing Director Viral Oza.

 

Although the smartphones are not yet available at major retailers, such as Flipkart and Letsbuy, it’s likely to be introduced during this weekend. For the time being, it appears that both Lumia 800 and 710 will be available in Nokia Stores for the prices mentioned above.

 

Lumia 800 and 710 are the first Windows Phone devices built by Nokia, which already said that has high hopes for these smartphones.

 

Initially launched in Europe, Lumia 800 and 710 have been recently introduced in different Asian countries, and are expected to arrive in North America in early 2012.

 

In fact, T-Mobile USA is the first North-American carrier that confirmed plans to release the Nokia Lumia 710 in January 2012.

 

In other news, Nokia is expected to announce a new Windows Phone flagship smartphone during CES or MWC 2012, the Nokia Lumia 900 (Nokia Ace).
